Do You Own All 10 Autumn Wardrobe Essentials?

October is finally here and you know what that means -- it's fall, loves!

I’m going to let you in on a little secret, I love fall!  The neutral colors, pumpkin spice everything, and warm festivities make my heart so happy.  That being said, I can’t think of a better way to get into the autumn spirit than by updating my wardrobe for the season!

But first, unless you're blessed with a spacious walk-in closet, we are going to make some room for our fall pieces.  I started my fall clothing haul by sorting through which summer pieces I wanted to keep out, which ones I wanted to tuck away, and which ones I wanted to sell.  This gives you an idea of how much space you have and what you really need.  Don’t forget to make room for accessories!

Okay -- now that that’s out of the way -- let's dive into my top 10 must have pieces for all your pumpkin patch wandering, apple picking, and tailgating adventures this fall.

1. A Button Up Cardigan

Any fellow Swifties out there?  I don't know about you, but I’ve had “Cardigan” on repeat for weeks now!  Channel your inner Taylor and pick up a trendy button up cardigan this fall!

I love the button up style because you can wear it plain by itself or undone with a cute cami.  Bonus points if it comes in a warm fall shade!

2. A Classic Pair of Booties

Something about boots just screams fall.  They are a fashionable way to keep your feet warm while looking adorable at the same time.  Layer some lace frill socks underneath to achieve the perfect cottage core look!

3. A Boss Blazer

Blazers were so last autumn and guess what? They are here to stay!  It’s no secret that a blazer is a key piece in every business woman's closet.  But who said we couldn't make a blazer relaxed?

Paired with a crop top and a mini skirt or pair of mom jeans, you can easily take an oversized blazer from sophisticated to sexy.  This way you can cozy up in it while on the hay rack ride and shrug it off as date night heats up around the bonfire.

4. Gold Chunky Jewelry

Sorry to all my silver jewelry girls out there… gold is in for the season!  Gold adds a touch of warmth to an outfit, and you know fall is all about warm tones.

Layering thick, chain-like jewelry has been one of the biggest fashion trends of 2020.  It is an effortless way to draw attention to a neckline or certain feature without being distracting.  No more choosing which necklace to wear -- you can wear them all!

5. A Neutral Graphic Tee

You can never go wrong with a graphic tee, right?  Lately I've been loving to play around with styling tees both up and down.  Of course they look great with leggings and a chunky cardigan, but a tee can also look boujee AF when paired with a casual skirt and boots.

Make sure to pick up enough tees to last all week because -- trust me -- once you are introduced to the graphic tee life, you will never go back.  I love this lion tee because, duh, it has a lion.  Oh, and because vintage is so in right now!

6. Straight Leg Jeans

Autumn is all about being comfy and girl, let me tell you, these jeans are the definition of comfy!  Say goodbye to the awkward wedgies and dreaded camel toe that comes with skinny jeans.  Once you try looser fitting jeans on, they will become your go-to pair.

***Pro Tip: straight leg/mom jeans can be hard to fit around both the waist and hips.  I recommend sizing up for that “baggy” look and adding a belt to re-cinch the waist!

7. A Sweater Vest

Before you scroll on to number 8, hear me out.  Sweater vests might seem like a memory from 50 years ago, but lucky for us, the vintage aesthetic is making a timely comeback!  Styled with a button up blouse underneath and some chunky gold jewelry from early, a sweater vest can (and will!) make a bad ass appearance in 2020!

8. A Wide Brim Hat

A wide brim hat is a simple way to add a little bit of flair to an outfit.  Plus, they serve as great cover ups for those days that dry shampoo just ist doing the trick!  Oh, and they make a super cute photo shoot prop for your fall Instagram feed!

9. A Mock Neck Sweater

A mock neck is the perfect balance between a crew neckline and a turtle neck that buries you alive.  I love a good turtle neck moment, but they can become a bit heavy and itchy.  Mock necks are different and fun while still being able to keep you warm out in the apple orchard.

Double bonus points if you can find a mock neck sweater with color blocking and neutral tones!

10. A Mini Skirt with Slits

Last but not least, you NEED to hop on the mini skirt trend this fall!  Most on the racks right now come with a little flirtatious slit -- so cute, right?

Like I said earlier, mini skirts go well with just about anything: graphic tees, crop tops, button up cardigans, you name it!  I call the gorgeous tiger print one above!
